Hand Screen Printing T-shirts

Katie Scott ‘Minerals’ from 1ina100 on Vimeo.

It’s not just that screen printing by hand allows for greater control of print detail, as we can see here, it also allows for varied intensities of colour within the print.

The majority of pricing for screen print allows for a couple of straight pulls of the squeegee blade across the screen, but due to the large heart and the true craftsmen’s approach of our very own Matt, we spotted him layering up colours at no extra cost, with a slightly more freestyle and creative approach.

He’s a modest man, so we filmed him secretly, but hope you agree that our screen printers have a tendency to go beyond the call of duty…

Teehunter – A fashion, style and tshirt blog

A big up to the Teehunter. “A daily fashion, style and tshirt culture and design blog dedicated to showcasing the worlds best clothing brands, collections, tshirts and designers.”

Teehunter

Tee Hunter is Edited and run by Liam Thomson. He fanatically hunts down and showcases the most exceptional brands, designers and clothing collections. There is still a strong emphasis on tshirts on the site, which is in keeping with the heritage of teehunter.com. What originally started out as a fleeting passion project / tshirt design blog has blossomed into the site you see today. Largely because of the wonderful readers and brands who make this whole operation tick.

Silent Faith – Quirky tshirt designs

October print the new range for Silent Faith. Founded in 2010, Silent Faith was started through a love for T-Shirts and T-Shirt design. Their aim is to make highly fashionable affordable tees to fit in with every individuals lifestyle.

They produce quirky designs that stand out from the crowd…but nothing is perfect at Silent Faith and thats the way they like it, because ‘perfect is boring’! Rough edges, faded prints and inconsistency is what it’s all about…

St Pauls Lifestyle an English romantic

St Pauls Lifestyle, the brand’s distinctive photographic-based designs are a combination of the founder’s twin passions – Britain’s edgy cultural heritage and punk era, and full blown romance.

Inspirations for St Paul’s grainy black and white photographic designs, with a floral motif, are eclectic, ranging from punk icons The Clash, to Constance Spry, the original high society florist. The designs started with the St Paul Lifestyle love story. Designs feature photographs by artists including Zoe an exhibitor at the National Portrait Gallery and one half of the artists “The Girls” (who recently completed an installation at Selfridges). St Pauls Lifestyle also supports and celebrates emerging musical talent: all the models on St Pauls’ website, and who appear within the designs themselves, are musicians who have been scouted by the founder, Rose Paul.

Born in Kuala Lumpur to English parents, Rose Paul’s embarrassed father would introduce his daughter as ‘Fifi the au pair’ on account of her black and yellow and shaven Mohican hair style. Fashion runs in Paul’s blood, her grandmother Jessie Phillips was a fashion designer who supplied her own label to Harrods, and designed uniforms for the QEII.

St Pauls Lifestyle gives young musicians a showcase on OVERGROUND SOUND which is featured on the BLOG at www.stpaulslifestyle.com  OVERGROUND SOUND is a place for airing new music (so pass the word around please to any band or artist you know looking for  a platform — tell them to email info@stpaulslifestyle.com). It also hosts music reviews, and interviews. It is a huge success.- Recent interviews on OVERGROUND SOUND include “Pulled Apart by Horses”; the multiple award winning Canadian superstars Joel Plaskett with Peter Elkas and “Bury Tomorrow” on the eve of their major Japan/US Tour.

T shirts, humanity and wisdom – Poor Righteous Students

Poor Righteous Students Clothing (“PRS”) is rooted in the concepts of humility, wisdom, and culture expressed through artistic designs and styles. Why the name Poor Righteous Students?

PRS10

The word Poor symbolizes the concept of humility and the need to stay grounded in a materialistic world. We feel that a person’s worth is not based on how much money they have, but what they do during their lifetime. The word Righteous symbolizes the idea of leading a life focused on doing good and increasing the good in the world. The word Students symbolizes the concept that a person never really ceases to be a student even when they become a teacher. If knowledge is infinite then the learning process never stops.

PRS7

 PRS4

The idea for Poor Righteous Students was born in February 2009 by Ben Jones and Kyle Mosley. Already friends from their college days at the University of Illinois, Ben and Kyle partnered up to merge their talents and create the PRS brand. Kyle had experience designing shirts for his own brand KMos, as well as for businesses and organizations within Chicago. Ben had aspired to create his own clothing and sneaker line in college, but never developed a concept that he could put his heart behind.
PRS1
After college they went in different professional directions, with Ben going to law school and practicing law for a firm in Chicago, and Kyle focusing on marketing and sales. In the early months of 2009 Kyle and Ben met and brainstormed ways in which they could merge their talents to create a new and unique brand. They realized that if they put their passions together, they could develop a culture through clothing that would encourage the minds of the masses.

October T-shirt prints tested for wind resistance

The UK Bungee Club (UKBC) was established in 1992 and is the market leader for Bungee Jumping in the UK. As the pioneer of commercial Bungee Jumping in Britain, the UKBC now facilitates all jumps sold by Britain’s leading retailers and gift experience companies such as Boots, WHSmith, Buy a Gift, ExElement and Red Letter Days.

bungeeclub_lrg

With permanent venues nationwide the UKBC operates bungee jumps from both fixed structures and cranes. With the UK’s only bridge bungee jump, the UK’s only indoor venue and regular jump heights from 160ft to 400ft, the UK Bungee Club has unparalleled experience in bungee jumping activities.

The professionalism and excellent safety record of the company has led to the UKBC being first choice for television production companies and channels worldwide including Endemol, Tiger Aspect and Outline Productions to name a few, producing shows for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Sky, NBC and ESPN.  Working with over 200 charities both large and small the UKBC has facilitated and organised charity events raising in excess of £3 million for good causes.

During its existence and due to the nature of the work the UKBC has become involved with other activities acting as advisors as well as organising and running events such as abseils, zip wires, drop slides and adventure trips around the world.

In the 1990’s The UK Bungee Club was responsible for running one of the most famous permanent jump facilities in the world, Adrenalin Village, located at Chelsea Bridge in Battersea, London. A permanent feature on the London skyline UKBC’s 300ft tower crane dispatched 11,000 bungee jumpers every year over the Thames. Alongside this a floating hostel housed thrill seekers from all over the globe with a total of 100,000 people visiting the site in its final year of operation. This was also the venue for the qualifying rounds of The World Extreme Games in association with the television company ESPN, which the UKBC facilitated in 1995.

In October 2006 The UK Bungee Club secured the rights to jump from the Middlesbrough Transporter Bridge. A milestone for Bungee Jumping in the UK – it was the first time that members of the public had been allowed to jump from a UK Bridge since members of Oxford University performed the first ever bungee jump in its modern form from the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol in 1979. On December 17, 2007, the UK Bungee Club bungee jumped American news anchor Anne Curry off the world famous Transporter Bridge to raise money for charity. Her jump was shown on the NBC news Today show at about 8:13 am Eastern time and went out live to 8 million people.

The UK Bungee Club also runs The Abyss @ Magna, the world’s only indoor bungee jump. Located and housed in the 150ft Face of Steel Building at the award winning Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham, a £46million Millennium project which opened in 2001. An extensive build project, The Abyss @ Magna opened in 2005 and has received national and international press coverage as well as being a venue for numerous TV and film projects. As a result The Abyss @ Magna was awarded the Best Tourism Experience 2006 by the Yorkshire Tourist board.  Working with the board and management of Magna, The Abyss has continued to progress with the installation of a new 250ft zip wire and a 150ft PowerFan descender, these activities were built alongside a new £2.7 million corporate development project at the centre.

POLAR HAT SAVES THE UK

October have recently been commended by the Treasury, for minimising the adverse balance of payment deficit usually associated with chilly weather.

polar headgear

The continued availablity of their Polar Hat, in white, khaki, black and navy, is estimated to have enabled an additional 16% of otherwise very cold commuters to make it into work this week. Particularly at risk were workers with large heads and no hair, especially in the North East, where a T-shirt is considered an arctic perfomance life saver.
Dr Albert Hacket, on secondment from the University of Michigan, and at present in the October R&D department said, ‘This super warm quilted aviator style hat, is crafted from nylon supplex with a stainproof Teflon surface. It has been tested out of a van window at over 90 miles an hour into horizontal snow for two hours. If you can’t make it into work in one of these hats, you are without doubt a steaming great Nancy’
The Doctor’s words not ours, but all the same, flaps down and chocs away!
